I am a student and I am for the firt time using SimaPro with information from Ecoinvent. I would like to estimate the differences for producing iron ore, steel and steel parts in different countries. I wonder if you consider if to use the country specific electricity mix could be a suitable approach. Or do have have any tips for how to customize the information that is available in Ecoinvent to be more country specific?

Thank you for your question. Ecoinvent is a background database. Data which is relevant for the specific foreground system should be supplied by the LCA practitioner. You are free to modify existing ecoinvent datasets to better reflect the situation you want to model. Please refer to the documentation of the dataset (e.g. general comment, activity starts/ends comment) to better understand what is included in each dataset and if the dataset meets your needs.
