Temporal distribution of impacts

Hi

I am interested in assessing the environmental impact of peak hours/peak season production of district heat in a combined heat and power plant, and was therefore glad to read "The option to have several temporal versions of the same dataset, and that separate linking is performed of datasets from the same time period, are new" (to version 3) and: "Recurring time periods, such as peak seasons or peak hours, are distinguished by the activity name and product name" in "Overview and methodology Data quality guideline for the ecoinvent database version 3 "

Does this mean that it is possible to find the LCIA results for the peak hours/peak season directly from the Ecoquery tool? if so, how do I find them? If not, can they be "pulled out" from the datasets in any other way?

Regards

Dear Jonas,

Unfortunately, ecoinvent does not provide LCIA results for peak hours/peak season of combined heat and power plants. The minimum year for which a dataset is valid is one year. Theoretically, we could have datasets describing peak season of CHP plants, however, currently this is not the case. I assume you can use the ecoinvent dataset as a base to model the different seasons/peaks of the power plant. However, you would need to check the dependencies of inputs and emissions in relation to the load of the plant in order to model a timeline.

I hope this answers your question.
