Get CO2 emission factor from Ecoinvent data

Hello,

I am working on a GHG emission measurement and I am looking for some emission factors of chemical products. Acetone in particular. This one is not in the standard DB I use, so I turned to Ecoinvent, but...

I checked several UPRs and I am a little bit lost !

what is the best practices to get a CO2 emission factor from an UPR (if thats ever possible) ! Which lines to read ?

Many thanks

Hi,

to get the emission factor you should check not the UPR but the LCIA results depending on a Method. For instance, if you're looking for the co2eq related to IPCC2013 GWP100a you can find this result in the LCIA.

if you are looking for the content of CO2 related to the activity, you should check the LCI results, look for the compartment of the emission (i.e. toEnvironment, to air) and you can see the different quantities of CO2 (fossil, no fossil, from biomass stock).

Hope i could help

Hi Thierry,

Thanks for your question. If you are looking for direct CO2 emissions, you can find those in the UPR of the datasets under exchanges, emissions to air. This is not valid for LCIs, those show cumulated emissions. If you are interested in LCIA scores, like the IPCC global warming potential, those are accessible with an ecoinvent license, you can find more information here.

I would as well recommend you this webinar, which introduces the information available on the ecoinvent website and gives you a tour of ecoQuery.

I hope this answers your question.

Kind Regards,
