does every dataset that covers the production of a material always cover production wastes?
if not, is there a way to see which datasets do and which don't?

Thank you for your question. You may consult the general comment or the corresponding documentation if a dataset contains waste production. Another source of information could be the exchanges of the datasets as well as the exchange comments.

Please have a look at the activity overview. This is an overview over all datasets and their reference and byProducts respectively. You can filter the file for waste byproducts and see which datasets have included wastes.
