The ecoinvent General Assembly accepts Mr. Rolf Frischknecht’s return of the honorary membership.

On 9 June 2021, the General Assembly of the ecoinvent Association accepted Mr. Rolf Frischknecht’s return of the honorary membership.

Mr. Frischknecht was one of the founding and leading members of the very beginnings of the ecoinvent database, playing a crucial role in the design, development, market introduction and operation of its initial versions, specifically versions 1 and 2. For this very role, Mr. Frischknecht was offered an honorary membership in the General Assembly of the ecoinvent Association in 2015.

Since then and for the last six years, Mr. Frischknecht has undeniably been a vocal and firm honorary member of ecoinvent’s General Assembly, contributing with continuous and constructive criticism on the development of version 3 of the ecoinvent database.

As the ecoinvent Association continues from the footsteps of the initiators of the ecoinvent project back in 1998, it dedicates its efforts to the mission of providing high-quality, transparent data that properly and accurately inform environmental assessments worldwide. In doing so, key values have remained core to the association since the beginning of the very first data project; transparency, reliability (which includes responsibility and accountability for the highest possible quality), accessibility.

Naturally, the implementation of shared values remains a matter of perspective. While Mr. Frischknecht and the association have not always agreed on the implementation of our common values, the feeling is that both sides have always strived towards the same goal.

It is in this spirit that the team and board of the ecoinvent Association would like to deeply thank Mr. Frischknecht for his long and valuable contribution to the development of ecoinvent database version 3 and wish him the best for his future steps.
