The ecoinvent association worked on Chemicals datasets for both the pilot (EF 2.0) and the transition phase (EF 3.0) of the project.

EF 2.0 Chemicals Data and the ecoinvent ILCD node

During the pilot phase of the Environmenta Footprint project (2017-2021), the ecoinvent association provided Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) aggregated processes for the Chemicals sector with their respective Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) results. Additionally, the association worked on the data conversion and addition to the UNEP GLAD system.

The data and LCIA results are provided through the dedicated ecoinvent ILCD node and can be download on the ecoinvent node under the data stock EF2.0. More information about the structure and the methodology of the data are provided through a list of datasets along with their metadata, and a sectorial report that are available.

The use of the EF 2.0 Chemicals data, requires acceptance of the EF2.0 data EULA.

Users that do not accept the terms and conditions of this EULA are not allowed to use the EF 2.0 Chemicals data.

Access & Use of the EF Chemicals data

Free Access (EF 2.0 and EF 3.0 data)

The use of the datasets is restricted to the implementation of regular Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) and Organisation Environmental Footprint (OEF) studies only. The datasets are to be used under the specified Product groups and sectors, as defined in the Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) and Organisation Environmental Footprint Sectorial Rules (OEFSR) listed here.

The use of the datasets for regular Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) and Organisation Environmental Footprint (OEF) studies is granted in accordance with the terms and conditions of the respective End User License Agreements (EF2.0 EULA & E.F3.0 EULA) until 31st December 2021.

Paid access (EF2.0 data)

To use the ecoinvent EF data for conducting studies outside the scope of PEF and OEF, a valid ecoinvent license is needed. Consequently, users of the data are bound by the ecoinvent EULA, which is accepted upon purchase of an ecoinvent data license. ecoinvent data license holders with updated maintenance, can access and use EF data in compliance with the ecoinvent EULA.

The ecoinvent EF data, as all secondary EF data, integrate energy and transport data from Thinkstep. Therefore, to use the ecoinvent EF data for conducting studies outside the scope of PEF and OEF, a valid Thinkstep license is needed with respect to the terms of use of the Thinkstep EF data.
